About the Project

Download Time Calculator was built to solve a simple yet common frustration: internet service providers (ISPs) advertise connection speeds in Megabits per second (Mbps), while web browsers, game launchers, and operating systems show file sizes and download progress in Megabytes (MB) or Gigabytes (GB). This difference, combined with network protocol overhead and WiFi latency, makes it hard to estimate how long a transfer will actually take.

This tool offers an accurate, real-world estimate by calculating the conversion mathematically and accounting for TCP/IP and wireless overhead. Best of all, it runs completely in your web browser. No data is ever sent to a server, ensuring absolute privacy.
